Bass Head Harbor - The rocky coast of Maine in the Northeast U.S. offers a unique view into the methods for protecting ships from crashing on the shores while navigating the hazardous waters just off the coasts of many states. Lighthouses provided mariners safe passage or at least a warning to steer clear of rocks and shallow shoals along coastal waterways. Today many lighthouses have have fallen into disuse following mapping of sea lanes and the advent of GPS navigation. This Ode to lighthouses was done using oil on canvas. It was completed in June 2024.
