Feeding time for the Osprey Chick - The Osprey is a medium sized bird of prey which is a resident of the shores on the Southeastern Virginia coast, among other places. Around Fort Monroe, VA. They build nests atop tall light poles, and in clear treetops within short flight distances to rivers and beaches. There the Osprey fish and hunt small reptiles and animals of the area. This piece shows a parent bird returning to the nest with fish for an anxious chick. Chick's are noticeably audible when they are awaiting feeding time. The painting captures the Osprey on final approach to land on the nest. It was completed in April 2024.
