Sunflower Thicket - An answer to the question "What happens to sunflowers that don't get cut and placed in a vase on a table in a home? In this scene sunflowers in a thicket of stems and vines, tangled with dead leaves and decaying remnants of other plants, struggle to survive but most of the available nutrients the soil can provide have been consumed. These are the last days of the plant's life cycle and it will soon drop it's seeds for he next generation to sprout. Most species of plant life have a similar course. The piece is oil on canvas. It was completed in January 2024.
